The Membrane-less turbine
Evaporation as membranes
We have developed a patented technology to entirely remove the need of membranes, reducing the cost of the osmotic technology by 50% - 80%. Put simply, we use evaporation to do the same job as the membranes.
Rotational technology
Using the centrifugal force by rotating the cylinder head, we are able to “simulate” semi-permeable membranes initial purpose in traditional osmotic power systems. The ejected brackish water through the water outlet evacuators sustain the RPM needed for the turbine to function, resulting in to energy input to rotate the device.
Dual cylinder
Due to the low pressure inside the turbine head, the fresh water is literally sucked in the central cylinder and up into the turbine head. The salt water arrives in the turbine head through the lateral / exterior cylinder by being pumped directly from a salt water source. The external cylinder is in rotation while the central cylinder remains static.
Applications
With the small dimensions required per turbine and the simple need of having access to fresh water and salt water, the possibilities of applications are endless. Whether underground, on a boat or on land, the turbines can easily be installed and do not require much maintenance once launched. As a result, there is no need to have permanent infrastructure and allows the technology to have minimal environmental impact, making it one of the most eco-friendly source of energy to date.
